21 Days of Prayer for a Disciple-Making District – NWIL
Prayer Challenge – March 1 – 22, 2026
WEEK ONE: THE CALL TO BE WITH JESUS

Focus: Personal surrender and intimacy with the Savior.

Day 6 — THE ENGINE ROOM OF PRAYER

Scripture: Luke 11:1 — “One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray...’”

Today’s Devotional: The disciples saw Jesus do everything—they saw Him walk on water and heal the blind. Yet they didn't ask for lessons in miracle-working. They asked for lessons in prayer. Why? Because they realized that Jesus' public power was the result of His private prayer life. Prayer is not a religious duty; it is the "engine room" of the church. If we want to see a disciple-making movement in NWIL, we must realize that movement doesn't start with a meeting; it starts on our knees. To learn to pray is to learn to depend on the Father for everything.

Response & Prayer Guide:

  • For Your Heart: If your prayer life has become a "grocery list" of requests, ask the Lord to teach you how to pray for His Kingdom and His will instead.
  • For Our District: Pray for a "House of Prayer" atmosphere to fall upon our district. May our buildings be known as places where people encounter the living God.

Church Prayer List:

  • Eureka – Pastor Daniel Wierenga
  • Extra Mile – Pastor Rita Lovell
  • Saving Grace – Pastor Tammy Shane

The Challenge & Next Steps:

  1. Practice: Use the "ACTS" model today: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication. Spend at least 3 minutes on each area.
  2. The Lord's Prayer: Pray the Lord’s Prayer slowly, pausing after each line to let the words sink into your soul.
  3. Worship: Listen to "The Lord’s Prayer (It’s Yours)" by Matt Maher.
  4. Pray Boldly that NWIL would become a district known for “making Christlike disciples” until our communities are visibly different.

PRAYER: Lord, teach us to pray not as a religious duty, but as a desperate and loving conversation with our Father. Move us beyond our grocery lists of requests and into a deep alignment with Your Kingdom come and Your will being done in Northwestern Illinois. May our church buildings truly become houses of prayer where Your power is generated, and Your people are forever changed.
